Tapan, Dutee emerge best athletes

Sprinters Tapan Kumar Behera of host Biju Pattnaik College of Science and Education (BPCSE) and international Dutee Chand of Indira Gandhi College, Jajpur emerged best athletes in the boys and girls categories respectively in the 29th CHSE Inter-College Athletics Meet, which concluded at Kalinga Stadium here today.

Tapan bagged three titles in 100, 200 and 400 metre events and finished second in long jump. Dutee claimed titles in 100 and 200 metre race besides finishing second in the 400 metre. Around 500 athletes from 150 colleges participated in the two-day meet. Among them 16 were selected for the National Inter-College Athletics Meet, schedule to be held at Lucknow in last week of November.

Girls: Dutee Chand (Indira Gandhi College, Jajpur), Kishori Munda, Albina Xalxo (both Government Women’s College, Sundargarh), Latika Basara (DR College, Nayapalli), Sumi Oram, Suchitra Kissan (both IMPS Jr College, Sundargarh).
